Homemade food, just like Baba's. It all started in 1994. Two farm women who wanted a ‘little side job’ started making Ukrainian food out of the kitchen. They called the business MARU for MArgared and Ruth. The business grew every year. Ruth has been the sole owner since 2000, but the name, already known to the customers, stayed the same. In 2001 the home-based kitchen moved to a commercial, separate building on the farm. MARU Ukrainian Foods is now a government approved food processor and the products are sold at the St. Albert Farmers’ Market as well as the Old Strathcona Farmer’s Market.
